Committed to Service
St. Mary’s participates in thoughtfully organized service that meets the needs of the community. Examples include supporting the Servant’s Heart Food Pantry and the Melrose Alliance Against Violence. Cards and small tokens are sent to local nursing homes or to individuals who need a little brightness added to their day. An annual clean-up of Mary Foley Park usually closes the school year.
Our commitment to service extends beyond the community. School-wide service projects are organized throughout the year, but especially during Advent and Lent. Some of the most recent endeavors have been Adopt a Soldier, 250 Beds for 250 Kids, supporting the building of a play area for a school in the Dominican Republic, and Coats for Kids. We know that one person can make a difference. We know that our school can make a difference.
Community Service Club
The Community Service Club made up of third, fourth and fifth graders will once again be involved in helping our community! This powerful group of students is responsible for a beautiful collage that now hangs on the walls of the Boston Healthcare for the Homeless organization, bookmarks made for the Melrose Public Library, and for over $2,500 raised for A Servant's Heart Food Pantry by walking two miles after school.
