The Upper Elementary Team
|
Fifth and sixth graders are often overlooked since the students are no longer children, but not quite adolescents. Tweens bring their own joys and problems to any classroom and so teachers of this age group require special skills to ensure student success. In the fifth and sixth grade, students are introduced to “switching classes,” but only move between two rooms. This introduction to multiple teachers allows the children to learn and practice organizational skills before junior high. Since each teacher sees a class several times a day, she is able to get to know each student. Their ability to address the academic, social, emotional, physical and spiritual needs of every student makes our Upper Elementary Team so effective.
