| Second grade is a very exciting year. Reading becomes a world of unlimited exploration as students’ literacy skills are strengthened and solidified. In math, we will focus on developing the ability to describe the relationship between addition and subtraction, accurately name the attributes of two- and three-dimensional shapes, use money in “real life” situations, and tell time among many other topics. In religion the students will be receiving the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion.
The second grade year is one that is crucial to the development of a student’s fundamental learning skills. My goal is to lay a foundation on which to build a productive and cooperative learning community that values respect, honesty, responsibility and individuality. To promote their higher level of thinking, I will strive to provide an environment where students feel safe taking risks.
