| Hello! My name is Kathy Sacco and I am thrilled to have the privilege of being your child’s first teacher at St. Mary’s School. Although this is my first year at St. Mary’s School, I began my teaching career over twenty years ago. For the past five years, I have been a Preschool Teacher in Lexington, and I am so fortunate to have the opportunity to continue my passion of working with this age group. My main goal as a teacher is to support your children’s inborn dispositions to be curious, to explore the world around them, and to make sense of their experiences in a meaningful context. I believe that as a teacher, I play an important role in fostering the intellectual and social development of children. I believe that what children learn and experience during their early years can shape their view of themselves and the world around them. All children are capable and competent learners. I encourage exploration and experimentation so that students learn that there is more than one solution to a problem. I provide opportunities for each child to try new ideas and approaches, while guiding them in discovering creative ways to learn and problem-solve. Every day, there are plenty of opportunities to reflect, revisit, and connect.
As a teacher, I use developmental goals and objectives to plan topics and activities while accommodating personal learning styles, rhythm, temperament, and needs. Each child comes to school with a desire to learn, and it is my responsibility to nurture and model this behavior.
